Dharma | mirror

The digital scrapbook of a part-time Buddhist.

My name is Hanz Geeratz, I am a No Meat Athlete, Ultra-runner and part time Buddhist. I live in beautiful Hamburg, in the north of Germany, where I work as CTO and co-founder of Speicher 210 and wingu.

Dharma | mirror  is my collection of idea’s, links, notes, and writings related to my main interests;  long distance running, Zen, Buddhism, Taoism, Silence, literature and music. Do not expect big articles or in-depth discussions since your looking into my digital scrapbook.

What is Ultra Running? Ultra Running is the sport of long-distance running or ultra-marathoning. The standard definition is anything past the marathon.  The shortest standard distance that’s considered an ultra is the 50 kilometer distance. Some races go wide over 100km or go for several days. No Meat Athlete ? yep, I am doing this on a plant-based diet.

They  [ultra runners..] understand, perhaps better than anyone, that the doors to the spirit will swing open with physical effort. In running such long and taxing distances they answer a call from the deepest realms of their being—a call that asks who they are.” —David Blaikie

Part time Buddhist? I consider myself a Buddhist without beliefs, part-time Buddhist or secular Buddhist. A freelance wanderer through the six realms of samsara. Buddhism without Buddhism. An non-religious Buddhism rooted in human meanings rather than in fantasies of the sacred. Next to Buddhism I am also interested in Zen and Taoism. I like to get my mind going on the various Zen complexities and Buddhist, Taoism concepts.
